 Wesley
at Martin is a 40 unit community offering one-bedroom
patio style retirement apartments to qualified residents
62 and older. The apartments feature private baths,
large closets, complete kitchens, optional cable TV
and emergency response pull cords. All utilities are
included. We are open to people of all faiths and religions.
The community has a lounge for planned activities and
a coin-operated laundry. Wesley's Pastoral staff provides
Bible Study and worship services for those residents
who wish to participate.
Manager Jeanette Collier says," I am most proud
of the fact that Wesley is the only facility in Martin
that offers housing specifically for people 62 and older.
It is offered at a cost they can afford on a fixed income.
Most people choose Wesley as their home when they can
no longer maintain the larger home where they raised
their families. We realize it is a big sacrifice for
them to sell so many of their possessions and move to
a smaller place. We are here to try and make that adjustment
a little easier for them. We offer them a quiet and
safe place to live where they don't have to worry about
maintenance, lawn care, loud music, unruly children
or drug dealing.
With the university so close by, we have many students
who volunteer to help with things the residents can
no longer do, such as washing cars, window washing and
weeding flower beds. Student nurses also come for one
semester where they go door to door and take blood pressures
once a week."

simply love my residents. I enjoy planning events for
them. They are so appreciative of anything you do for
them.
I have been told by several visitors who came to our
community for the first time that it has a peaceful
and tranquil atmosphere and that it looks like a vacation
resort. I am proud of the neat and clean appearance.
The residents look out for one another. If a strange
car comes thru, I can guarantee you that more than one
is watching to see where it stops. They are a talented
bunch. They paint pictures, cross stitch, crochet, sing,
play piano and quilt some of the most beautiful pieces
you will ever see. They are wonderful cooks who are
always eager to share it with someone else.
Wesley at Martin is not only a job for me, it is a mission.
